The hiring range for this role is:

47,642.00 - 66,815.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the hiring range and this hiring range may also be modified in the future. A candidate's position within the hiring range may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.This job is also eligible for annual bonus incentive pay.

This internship is located in Chicago, IL. This is a hybrid position with 3-4 days in-office.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to manage a project from start to finish, applying root cause analysis, identifying operational improvement opportunities and solutions, and building teamwork skills. You will interact directly with teams across the Blue System contributing to positive business outcomes for this National Network by improving the operational performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Increasing the usability of existing reports to improve claims processing and provider data submission.
* Enhancing a Plan-facing dashboard with data-driven insights to increase operational performance.
* Creating a framework to identify areas of opportunity in Plan processes and targeted Plan follow-up.
* Identifying reporting enhancements and creating internal and Plan-facing documentation.
* Gaining hands-on experience with Blue System operations, focusing on provider data and claims processing.
* Demonstrating the ability to interpret business needs and translate them into meaningful action.
* Identifying the root cause of problems and proposing mitigation plans.
* Working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.
Documenting new processes and developing a presentation on project summary and learning outcomes to present to division leadership

Primary Job Functions

  • Ensure complete confidentiality of company business.

  • Keep management informed about developments within areas of responsibility and handle special projects as needed.

  • Create a final PowerPoint presentation to share with department leadership, summarizing the internship experience, the assigned project, results, and any recommendations for future use.

  • Adhere to HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies, and other relevant corporate and departmental policies.

Education, Experience and Certification

Education

Required:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Health Administration or related field

  • Graduation date between December 2025 - June 2026 (preferred)

  • A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0

  • Availability to work ten weeks during the summer

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Self-starter with good time management skills

  • Proactive and eager to learn

  • Strong computer skills. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Tableau preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of the healthcare industry, particularly in provider data and claims processing is preferred

  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
