The Department of Periodontics in the College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking candidates for a full-time twelve-month non-tenure track faculty position of Clinical Assistant Professor for Postgraduate and Predoctoral education. The department seeks individuals with a strong commitment to interdisciplinary care and willingness to engage other academic departments such as Restorative Dentistry, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Endodontics, etc. The Department of Periodontics is actively engaged in the educational, research, and service missions of the College. Our curriculum includes pre-doctoral, post-graduate (residency), and continuing education programs with a focus on evidence-based periodontics and implant dentistry. Clinical training emphasizes the understanding of periodontal and peri-implant health and treatment of associated diseases and is supported by departmental research activities. Faculty members actively participate in pre-clinical (basic), translational, and clinical investigation and provide students instruction and guidance in research. Responsibilities will include resident, clinical and didactic instruction in the pre-doctoral program including non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapy. It will also include professional service, scholarly activity and participation in intramural or extramural practice. Candidates must have a DDS/DMD or equivalent, have an active dental license and/or be eligible for full licensure in Illinois, or have the qualifications to obtain a restricted faculty license. Applicants having advanced training and experience in all areas of periodontology or oral surgery and implantology including site development; certification by the American Board of Periodontology; teaching experience and active scholarly activity are preferred.
