What does a Sr Director of Public Relations and Government Affairs at Swire Coca-Cola do? The Senior Directors role is to protect the company and our brands from discriminatory or harmful public policy in the territory where we do business. This person will develop and execute political and legislative strategy to promote our interests. They will ensure relationship building with key federal, state and local policymakers and influencers, forging strong coalitions. Will collaborate with the Sustainability and Strategic Partnership teams to identify locations for activations and ensure alignment with legislative priorities. Will coordinate with the Communications team to ensure storytelling reaches influential stakeholders in the public policy arena. Also collaborates with the industry and Coca-Cola System on policy positions. Leads team of specialized Public Relations and Government Affairs professionals, promoting individual and team development and growth opportunities. Manages cross-functional process for policy/regulatory review and implementation. Identifies policy trends and mitigation strategies. Gains buy-in and alignment for policy positions.
Responsibilities:
- Support the field team's development of a comprehensive elected official and key stakeholder engagement strategy for the company and industry. This includes mitigating against policy that would negatively impact the Company and actively promoting legislation that would benefit the Company
- Conduct research and analysis to inform policy development across all regulatory environment in our network proactively identifying policy trends across the network and develop plans to mitigate
- Ensure stakeholder mapping in each region including plans for facility visits and board placements
- Represent the Company at appropriate dinners, legislative days, and other gatherings with key policymakers and influencers as appropriate
- Coordinate with national industry and Coca-Cola system colleagues on policy development and strategy. Ensure Swire input is captured
- Serve and represent the Company on applicable boards and develop elected official organization engagement strategy (Western Governors Association, Republican Governors Association, Democratic Governors Association, U.S. Conference of Mayors)
- Ensure budget is managed to, projects are timely completed, efficiencies are sought, SOP's in place, and company protocols and requirements are followed
- Contribute local, state and federal policy perspective to Company leadership including raising policy trends and assessing impact to the business. Ensure appropriate briefing materials are provided. Measure and publish impact of efforts
- Lead a group of PRGA professionals. Work with PRGA directors to ensure strategic plans are in place by region and with the PRGA manager to support the full PRGA team
- Support development and growth opportunities for the field team, giving them visibility and opportunities for enterprise engagement - fostering a collaborative environment within the team and with internal cross-functional stakeholders
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree Corporate Social Responsibility, Business, Economics, Public Affairs, or related field required
- Master's Degree preferred
- 10 + years progressive career development and experience in a Government Relations or Public Policy related field
- 4+ experience directly leading a team of professional-level team members
