SEMCO - Laborer (Port Huron)

Position Summary
SEMCO is seeking a Laborer for our Port Huron team! Under general supervision, the Laborer works with and performs the same work as that of the "C" classification within the union. The Laborer may perform also other similar and related work within their classification.

This is a unionized role represented by the Utility Workers Local 473 union.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Operates a Company vehicle and is responsible for inventory, maintenance, and safe operation.
• Maintain a commercial driver's license as required by the Company.
• Comply with standard safety precautions necessary to ensure the safety of others and prevent lost-time accidents.
• On occasion may be required to work in another department as needed.
• Perform minor painting, cleaning of vehicles, and janitorial duties.
• Operate and perform minor maintenance of power equipment for lawn care and snow removal.
• Other labor-related support duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent customer service orientation.
• Must possess a valid MI driver's license as determined by the Company.
• Possess the necessary physical abilities to perform the various job duties.
• Ability to write legibly and operate a personal computer satisfactorily.
• Must be able to obtain a CDL License, possess a valid driver's license, and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company's Safe Driving Policy.

• This is a safety-sensitive role. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screen.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to walk at least 10 miles per day in all types of weather conditions. Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel, walk, climb, push, pull, lift, carry 20-50 lbs., twist, reach above and below shoulder levels, and do fine finger movements. Must be able to work in climates of extreme cold/extreme heat. Potential exposure to stinging insects/insecticides and possible requirement to be in the Respirator Program.

The hourly pay rate for this role is $24.87 per hour, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
