Position Summary:

The Metrology Technician is an integral part of the production validation and quality assurance teams for Cirtec's Rock Hill facility. The Metrology Technician will directly support active validation activities for new molds and replacement cavities. The Metrology Technician will have to be proficient with precision measurement equipment, execution of gauge repeatability & reproducibility studies, the use of statistical analysis software.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Perform precision measurements of complex molded rubber components using advanced programmable optical measuring systems.
  • Interpret and apply metrology programs to ensure accurate results.
  • Follow established standard operating procedures to carry out day-to-day metrology functions.
  • Generate dimensional reports: Collect, analyze, and interpret measurement data while adhering to statistical process control (SPC) rules.
  • Analyze charts, graphs, and data to identify trends, dimensional shifts, and potential issues.
  • Select appropriate measurement methods based on part tolerances and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
  • Perform Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R) studies with minimal supervision.
  • Monitor product quality: Alert Production and/or Engineering when parts are out of specification or non-conforming.
  • Adjust measurement equipment and programs as needed to maintain accuracy.
  • Set up and calibrate dimensional inspection reports to ensure consistent quality.
  • Re-measure products when readings fall outside of specification to verify accuracy.
  • Meet inspection targets for completed inspections per hour.
  • Ensure timely completion of validations and properly track timing.
  • Identify trends in measurements and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Document rejected inspections (out of tolerance) and complete Non-Conformance Report (NCR) forms accurately.



Must Have:



  • 1-3 years of experience in metrology, strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) with hands-on experience operating semi-automated measurement systems (e.g., MicroVu, OGP, optical/laser equipment).
  • Skilled in interpreting charts, graphs, and data, with a good understanding of statistical analysis.
  • Ability to use Minitab software for basic data analysis.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of dimensional tolerances and their application.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates or technical degree in a related field preferred.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
  • Excellent understanding of keyboard, monitor and hard drive; must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).



Good to have:



  • Metrology certification or similar qualifications a plus.
