Georgia-Pacific's Software Engineering & Integrations (SE&I) team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Atlanta, GA. You will collaborate with other technology capabilities and our Environmental, Health & Safety partners to grow our custom Safety Permitting Application product, which is currently being rewritten from the ground up. This application plays a vital role in ensuring that our employees stay safe in the various working conditions they face in the manufacturing process. Functionally, this team works directly with multiple IT business groups in the Environmental and Health & Safety organizations representing roughly 150 US-based manufacturing facilities. The development team is a diverse mix of skills and experience spread between the US, Mexico, and India. This role will bring a seasoned level of experience in building, testing, debugging, deploying, and maintaining large complex applications. Besides advanced technical skills, we seek someone willing to effectively challenge existing methodologies and patterns and who enjoys discussing alternatives with their colleagues and leaders.

Location: This is a hybrid role based out of our GP Headquarters in Atlanta, GA.

Our Team

GP's Software Engineering & Integration team's core competency is designing, building, delivering, and maintaining custom software solutions. We recently initiated our transformation journey, creating functions and capabilities that enable engineers to have major impacts on GP's business performance. We seek to build functionality once, so engineers are encouraged to re-use their peers' work and modify then scale it to meet new use cases. We focus on delivering profitable business outcomes by partnering with business analysts, delivery leaders, and quality engineers to build the right solution at the right speed.

What You Will Do
* Partner with the product owner and analysts to understand and refine requirements
* Work with other engineers to define technical requirements and estimate delivery
* Identify and resolve complex technical issues, optimize system performance, and recommend strategies to reduce technical debt and accelerate feature delivery
* Implement code changes
* Perform manual confirmation testing of software implementations
* Create or update configurations required for application deployments
* Debug, troubleshoot, and repair application issues triaged by the functional team
* Participate in an Agile work processes (standups, grooming, planning, retros, etc.) to drive continuous improvement
* Provide feedback and informal mentorship to less experienced development team members

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

* Experience building and deploying Progressive Web Applications (PWA)
* 7+ years of experience with JavaScript
* 5+ years of experience with React.js
* 3+ years of experience implementing software solutions in .NET (C#)
* 3+ years of experience with SQL stored procedures

What Will Put You Ahead
* Extensive knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
* Experience working on Agile Scrum teams
* Amazon Web Services certification or commensurate experience (ecs, ec2, lambda, s3)
* Experience fine-tuning LLM's for text and image processing
* Experience deploying Trusted Web Applications (TWA)
* Experience with Next.js or other React-based frameworks
* Experience with PostgreSQL
* Experience working for a manufacturing organization and customer base
* Experience working with distributed global teams
* Bachelor's Degree in an IT discipline
