Job Description

Pay Range: $77,969-$82,285 per year

This position is responsible for maintaining the Foster Farms environmental management system at the PNW Kelso complex and ancillary live operation facilities

The position will use environmental program and regulatory knowledge, working with the operations leadership teams to execute environmental programs to ensure compliance with all applicable specific Federal, State and Local permits and regulations.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain compliance with required air, water, hazardous materials, and other permits to include collecting, analyzing, and submitting data and materials for required reporting as needed in regulatory databases and Foster Farms Environmental Management system.
  • Monitor and provide guidance with plant management with onsite performance against applicable environmental regulations, programs, and policies.
  • Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each environmental program.
  • Measure and analyze sites' performance against environmental standards. Identify and assist sites with action plan development for any deficiencies noted from trends, audits, and inspections to include documented closure.
  • Coordinate any environmental tasks performed by relevant contractors and consultants.
  • Build collaborative relationships with plant personnel to ensure risks are identified early and managed in a timely manner.
  • Participate in environmental risk assessments and audits as necessary.
  • Maintain and update electronic LOCUS compliance database platforms for each assigned location as required.
  • Assist with root cause analyses for all environmental incidents and recommend appropriate corrective actions for implementation with plant management and corporate leadership.
  • Show initiative to identify and implement corrective actions to eliminate any observed non-compliance or potential non-compliance situations.
  • In liaison with Corporate Environmental keep up with changes to state and local environmental requirements that could impact operations and ensure appropriate preparations for those changes.
  • In liaison with Corporate Environmental provide submittals of environmental permit writing, renewals, and conditions.
  • Act as an onsite liaison with state and local regulating authorities with assistance from Plant Management and Corporate Environmental concerning environmental matters.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise, share best practices, and deliver training to help the plant manage their environmental compliance tasks.
  • Support the Wastewater Supervisor in compliance of all wastewater operations.
  • Act as the onsite representative for facilitating spill response and remediation activities concerning environmental matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Travel: As required to facilities within assigned area.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in natural science, environmental science, chemistry or engineering, or management is preferred.
  • Experience: 2 plus years' experience in environmental field, manufacturing plant operations in Environmental position or related experiences preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Power Point. Must also have the basic computer skills to utilize compliance databases.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of Team Members.
  • Special Skills: Strong interpersonal skills; ability to drive concurrent projects to completion; comfortable influencing all levels of the organization; strong team and collaboration skills; demonstrates ability to think creatively and drive innovation.
