Job Summary

Administers the development and delivery of knowledge in support of FIU Online's AI initiatives, Canvas course blueprints and templates, the learning design team workflow, and state support of the Affordability Counts initiative. The Assistant Director manages the knowledge bases relevant to these initiatives and collaborates closely with the FIU Online Learning Design team and senior executive leadership to deliver high-quality and comprehensive knowledge as needed to the university's stakeholders in alignment with the institutional strategic plan and operational needs.

  • Collaborates closely with instructional designers, content developers, technology services, and other stakeholders to ensure that course templates and the Goldi knowledge base fulfill the information needs of employees, faculty, and administration.
  • Develops and implements a strategic roadmap for the Goldi knowledge base to align with organizational objectives and maximize faculty engagement with the tool.
  • Designs knowledge architecture, categorizes information, and structures the Goldi knowledge base for easy access and retrieval.
  • Directs the creation, updates, and organization of administrative content within the Goldi knowledge base to assure relevance, accuracy, and alignment with user needs.
  • Designs and implements standardized processes for content tagging, metadata management, and indexing for improved content quality.
  • Coordinates directly with AI trainers and developers to ensure that knowledge base content supports system learning and accuracy.
  • Creates, implements, regularly reviews and assesses communication plans and campaigns to enhance engagement between the learning design team, instructors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Oversees all communications related to the Learning Design Team, including faculty webinars, newsletters, instructional design meetings, trainings, and related events.
  • Maintains strong internal and external partnerships across the organization, ensuring clear communication about knowledge management for FIU Online and senior leadership.
  • Directs the implementation and management of FIU Onlines OER faculty incentive program and the Affordability Counts initiative, overseeing submission management, fund disbursement, and grant reporting.
  • Manages Canvas course templates and blueprints for FIU Online-supported courses, working collaboratively with the FIU Online Programs and Learning Management teams to ensure seamless template application.
  • Works with leadership, creative teams, and stakeholders to develop creative solutions and communication deliverables that support service quality.
  • Manages and refines the onboarding program for new instructional design team members to ensure a smooth integration process.
  • Designs, documents, and regularly updates processes for the instructional design team, maintaining consistency, efficiency, and alignment with university and department standards.
  • Develops and oversees Canvas Help articles for instructors, focusing on instructional design team-related topics, ensuring content is accurate, clear, and accessible.
  • Regularly reviews and assesses communication and process effectiveness, making adjustments to improve support and service delivery for instructors.
  • Provides quality assurance for instructional design documentation and resources, ensuring high standards of accuracy and relevance.
  • Remains informed on emerging trends, tools, and technologies in learning and creative industries, incorporating relevant advancements into team practices.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience.
Desired Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of principles of instructional and visual design, educational technologies, and the Quality Matters framework.
  • Prior experience working with subject matter experts or faculty members to develop curriculum and design distance learning courses and maintain an AI knowledge base.
  • Knowledge of FERPA federal law.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce.
