Job Description:

V2X is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to perform assignments relative to the sustainment and operations of the COBRA DANE software systems and subsystems, at the direction of the Site Manager on the COBRA DANE Radar system located at Shemya, Alaska. This position is a remote assignment in Shemya, Alaska with a rotation of approximately 8 weeks on island and 5 weeks off island.

The candidate will be required to evaluate system software performance with respect to the Software Requirements Specifications (SRS), the Tactical Requirements Document (TRD), and other system specifications. Candidate will monitor system performance and analyze anomalies, determine the root cause, and recommend a solution. Capture and record all relevant data products and submit recorded observations via a Product Quality Deficiency Report (PQDR). Assist in the analysis of system outages, which impact to operational availability, to meet a 24-hour response time. The candidate will support System Engineering in the review of calibration procedures, results, and the modification of the specific procedures. Other Requirements:



  • Capable of obtaining DOD Secret clearance.


Required Skills:



  • Two years programming and/or maintenance experience, knowledge of VAX VMS DCL operating system knowledge a plus
  • Experience/knowledge of UNIX and Solaris operating systems.
  • Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (Security +) or obtained within 120 days of hire.
  • Strong understanding of computer programming methodologies and phases of software development life cycle.
  • Background of procedural, scripted, and object-oriented programming languages; knowledge of and experience using basic data constructs in a variety of programming languages.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot computer processing errors or inconsistencies to conclusion.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the preparation and presentation of technical reports
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and MS Project


Desired Qualifications/Skills:



  • BA/BS in related field
  • Some Rational Apex exposure is desirable.
  • Two years' programming experience in ADA, C++, and/or other related scientific languages.
  • Experience with management of Microsoft products
  • Experience using MathCAD and Mathematica.


Education Requirements:



  • Associate's degree in computer science and/or software engineering; or equivalent experience.


Salary Range:



  • $85k-$110k.
