Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences (Harriot College,
https://thcas.ecu.edu/) employs approximately 450 full-time faculty and staff, and the Dean's Office oversees all budget, personnel and academic matters in its departments, interdisciplinary programs, centers, institutes, and auxiliary offices. Harriot College is home to 16 academic departments and offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Harriot College is committed to enriching the lives of students, faculty, and staff by providing a broad academic community where the exchange of ideas, knowledge and perspectives is an active part of living and learning. Further, faculty and students in Harriot College have ample opportunity to collaborate across departments via college research centers including the Center for Survey Research (

Job Duties |
INTERNAL
POSTING: Open only to applicants currently employed by East Carolina University.
The purpose of the Rivers Fund is to allow the selected scholar to be actively engaged in significant research with an international dimension, and continue to have this as an important aspect of their responsibilities; share the results of this research with the university community through seminars, classes, conferences, and other suitable means, as well as with the broader scholarly community through publications; serve as a consultant to departments and interdisciplinary programs in the college to help them increase their international dimensions; and lead the university community to see more fully the values to be gained through the growing internationalization of the campus. Only internal applicants from the college may apply. Those who hold the rank of Professor or Associate Professor may submit applications. The duration of the position is AY 2025-26, AY 2026-27 with the possibility of a subsequent appointment.
This position is contingent upon funding availability. |

The American Council on Education provides a useful model of comprehensive internationalization.
