About the Role:

Lumonic, a subsidiary of PitchBook, is a private credit management platform founded and designed to automate reporting and compliance for private credit lenders. Its proprietary platform streamlines borrower financial data collection and verification, enabling investors to monitor compliance, covenant adherence, and financial health across their lending portfolios in real-time.

PitchBook's Senior Software Engineer supports our Lumonic subsidiary and is responsible for building next-generation solutions that modernize portfolio workflows through AI-driven analytics and automation. The Lumonic platform encompasses data collection, extraction, and reporting to provide critical portfolio insights in real-time, helping investment professionals make better decisions with their data.

This roles works with modern technologies in our Python/React/PostgreSQL stack to solve complex problems in private financial markets. Problems range from data extraction, normalization, and reporting. We're looking for engineers who are hungry, passionate about coding, and already incorporating AI tools into their workflow.

Primary Job Responsibilities:



  • Build game-changing features for the Lumonic platform
  • Own problems end-to-end, working directly with stakeholders to build solutions
  • Shape our technical roadmap through a combination of experimentation, proof-of-concepts, and production ready builds
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews for team members
  • Solve complex data extraction challenges that turn financial documents into actionable insights
  • Enhance our AI capabilities across the platform
  • Champion AI integration into our own workflows
  • Support initiatives to scale our architecture to match customer growth
  • Participate in customer calls and understand the direct impact of your work
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested



Skills and Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems,or a similar field
  • 5+ years in Software Development or Engineering roles
  • Ability to solve complex problems and build innovative solutions
  • Strong Python skills with experience or familiarity in modern frameworks (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, Polars)
  • React expertise with Material UI or similar component libraries
  • PostgreSQL database design and optimization experience
  • Demonstrated passion for coding (side projects, open-source contributions, etc.)
  • Comfortable integrating or already integrated AI tools into your daily workflow
  • Can handle ambiguity and turn undefined problems into actionable solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Track record of building and shipping web applications end-to-end a plus
  • A genuine interest in finance and/or private credit, private equity, and venture capital
  • Ability to translate complex domain concepts into elegant software solutions
  • Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
  • AWS infrastructure experience (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda etc.) preferred
  • Experience with data visualization and complex UI interactions preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of building LLM integrated products preferred
  • Previous work with document parsing or data extraction systems preferred

Compensation



  • Annual base salary: $150,000-$250,000
  • Target annual bonus percentage: 15%



*Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location.

Working Conditions:

We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it's helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 3+ days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
