Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for Buyer II to be based out of Pueblo, Colorado. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this person will be responsible for the timely placement and cost-effective purchase orders and delivery of materials to meet customer & production order requirements and maintain stock inventory levels within approved guidelines.

What you'll do:



  • Research, evaluate, and recommend specifications for issuing purchase orders to suppliers through requisition. Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
  • Responsible for purchase order placement accuracy and optimum delivery and pricing following company processes and policies.
  • Forecast likely levels of inventory/demand for services and products to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels to maximize business efficiency.
  • Forecast requirements and order products and services to meet sales and production demands. Attend internal production update meetings and works with schedules, and procurement needs and/or advise if any purchasing issues might jeopardize
  • Meet with vendors to negotiate improved pricing, product quality, and negotiate purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company procedures and policies.
  • Ensure the completion of weekly/monthly reports (mostly excel) with a high degree of accuracy
  • Participate in the development of specifications for services, equipment, products, supplies or substitute. Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors.
  • Act as liaison between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and management; building and maintaining good relationships. Ensure an excellent working climate while facilitating operational excellence.
  • Keep contract files and use them as reference for the future.
  • Ensure close monitoring of residual materials inventories and ensures compliance with environmental regulations for storage and disposal.
  • Contribute to the development of the organization's purchasing strategy. Prepare and present reports and statistics as needed. Provide information to identify purchasing requirements, establish business plans and key performance objectives, and report performance against plan and business growth.


What you'll bring:



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of purchasing experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Working knowledge of ERP / MRP systems an asset.
  • Administrative writing skills, organization, data entry skills, general math skills, financial software, analyzing information, attention to detail, thoroughness.
  • Inventory keeping and reporting experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in analyzing inventory data to forecast demand and manage stock preferred.
  • General mechanical, electrical, industrial knowledge considered a plus.
  • Good communication skills. Must have ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to think quickly and logically to ensure expedient and thorough responses. Good negotiation skills.
  • Fully aware of the manufacturing process and its requirement for "on-time-delivery." Ability to work to deadlines. Customer service focus.
  • Able to work under pressure. Team player. Self-motivated and reliable. Willingness to learn. Capacity to seamlessly adapt to a fast moving/changing environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to project timelines and complete tasks on schedule


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete immersion process
  • Acquire basic understanding and autonomy in business system (Synergytek)
  • Acquire general understanding of our manufacturing processes and basic materials as well as main vendors
  • Get familiar with main purchasing reporting documents (rolling calendar, budget calculator, raw material tracker)
  • Get familiar with month end process


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Complete understanding of purchasing requirements and processes
  • Overall good understanding of business system and its various tools and functions. (Synerygtek)
  • Able to maintain budget calculator, rolling calendar and raw material tracker reports up to-date & make inventory purchase recommendations
  • Able to complete the month end process & related reports


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Autonomous in the purchasing role & responsibilities
  • Participate in a Kaizen exercise
  • Participate in standard costs review process
  • Participate in year-end exercise

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $59,920 - $82,390. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
