A New Drug Application for tenapanor for hyperphosphatemia has been approved in China with Fosun Pharma. Knight Therapeutics commercializes IBSRELA in Canada.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Scientist, Pharmacology and Translational Biology to join our experienced drug discovery and development team to help drive our gastrointestinal (GI) and cardiorenal biology efforts. The successful candidate will help develop the GI/cardiorenal therapeutic strategy and support our drug programs. In support of the company's drug discovery and development efforts, the Senior Scientist will also oversee the work of contract research organizations (CROs) focused on the evaluation of drug targets and mechanisms involved in GI and cardiorenal pathophysiology.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute relevant in vivo models critical to the evaluation of compound activity, mechanism of action, and generation of key data sets that drive drug programs
  • Review, assess, plan, and execute activities relevant to our GI/cardiorenal portfolio
  • Identify CROs and academic institutions to collaborate with on research projects
  • Support drug discovery efforts, due diligence and preclinical de-risking of GI/cardiorenal opportunities, and assist drug development team in providing IND-enabling data
  • Provide scientific input to the management team on new therapeutic opportunities and competitive intelligence on GI/cardiorenal programs
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in biology, pharmacology, or related discipline with 5 years of related experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus
  • Broad knowledge and proven ability to evaluate, develop, and troubleshoot in vivo models and systems for compound evaluation in GI/cardiorenal diseases and a deep working knowledge of the animal models required to progress candidate molecules
  • Connections with key opinion leaders in fields relevant to the disease area is helpful
  • Experience/knowledge in gut physiology and the role of intestinal receptors/transporters is a plus
  • A commitment to high-quality research and the execution of research plans in a timely and organized manner
  • Strong written and communication skills, and an ability to work effectively with a diverse team of co-workers in a dynamic environment
The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $136,000-$166,000. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.
