The Impact You Will Have

As the President of Commercial Markets, you will oversee the growth and retention of the Commercial Markets P&L, covering segments like National Accounts, Large Group, Small Group, Individual, Taft-Hartley, Public Sector, and the Federal Employee Program (FEP). Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, this key role ensures strategic vision and direction align with goals for net growth, profitability, and stakeholder satisfaction.

This leader will translate strategic goals into actionable business plans and build collaborative teams to achieve these objectives. This role involves managing Commercial Products and services across Medical and Ancillary lines, partnering with clinical, provider relations, underwriting, actuarial, data analytics, service, and marketing teams to execute a differentiated value proposition. Additionally, the role directs distribution and market engagement strategies, fostering relationships with brokers, consultants, and customers.

Your Responsibilities
* Establish and oversee the strategic direction of the Commercial Markets business and segments to ensure financial, enrollment and stakeholder satisfaction goals are met.
* Drive the development, training, and execution of the Commercial Markets value proposition.
* Partner with executive leadership and across the organization to ensure the voice of the Commercial customer and member is represented.
* Drive industry-leading customer, member and distribution partner relationships and satisfaction.
* Establish, monitor, and evolve the company distribution strategy to maximize enrollment.
* Partner with finance to maintain organizational staffing levels, external broker commission and expenses commensurate with Commercial Markets membership.
* Partner with marketing to drive effective business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketing strategies.
* Monitor claims trends and partner with underwriting and actuarial to adjust strategies as appropriate to maximize enrollment and maintain stable profit margins.
* Develop and deploy performance metrics and standards for internal sales teams, operational support, and distribution channel partners.
* Lead and partner with the product, underwriting and actuary to establish a portfolio that resonates with customers and distribution partners.

Required Skills and Experience
* Bachelor's degree with 15+ years of relevant professional experience in health insurance sales, fully insured and self-insured markets, including transferable skills and military experience. 10+ years of leadership experience.
* Extensive experience in the health insurance industry, particularly in commercial markets. This includes roles in Sales, Account Management, and Relationship Management, with a proven track record of driving growth and profitability.
* Strong leadership and strategic thinking abilities to oversee the growth and retention of the company's Commercial Markets P&L.

* Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with various departments such as clinical, provider relations, underwriting, actuarial, data analytics, service, and marketing.
* In-depth understanding of federal, state, and local regulations relevant to health insurance and commercial markets.
* Ability to develop performance metrics and adjust strategies in collaboration with underwriting and actuarial teams to maintain stable profit margins.

Preferred Skills and Experience
* Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Health Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), or a related discipline.

* Strategic Leadership: Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategic plans for commercial markets, including Sales, Account Management, and Relationship Management. Proven success in driving growth and profitability.
* Integrity: Demonstrated track record of ethical decision-making and actions that consistently reinforce integrity. Must have a history of maintaining high ethical standards in all business dealings.
* Influencing Skills: High emotional intelligence (EQ) with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, colleagues, the Board, regulators, and community stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in influencing and negotiating at the executive level.
* Collaboration and Team Building: Proven track record of collaborating effectively, building consensus, and leading cross-functional teams. Demonstrated ability to take decisive actions and advocate for business cases when necessary.
* Innovative and Action-Oriented: High energy and proactive approach to problem-solving. Demonstrated history of driving innovation and taking initiative to achieve business goals. Experience in fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment is critical.
* Servant Leadership: Forward-thinking leader with a low-ego approach, motivated by the advancement of the organization. Experience in creating an inspiring, engaging, and accountable environment that attracts and retains top talent.
* Entrepreneurial Orientation: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in large organizations while maintaining an entrepreneurial mindset. Demonstrated experience innovating within highly regulated environments.
* Communication Skills: Credible and persuasive communicator, both orally and in writing. Proven experience presenting to senior leadership and external stakeholders.

Accepting this position at BCBSMN requires signing an Employee Confidentiality, Intellectual Property Assignment, and Restrictive Covenants Agreement as a condition of employment.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $400,000.00 - $425,000.00 - $450,000.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
