The Legal Assistant III (Legal/Litigation Secretary) performs a broad range of legal secretarial duties and assists with litigation including preparation and filing of pleadings in state and federal courts, calendaring and service and providing the full range of support to two or more attorneys. This is a high-level legal assistant position requiring the ability to work independently, perform a broad range of legal duties in support of attorneys and paralegals and is recognized as a technical specialist. The position requires the ability to complete basic research, make independent decisions to prioritize work, interpret data, and provide recommendations to solve problems. The position assists with matters reviewed by the Metropolitan Board of Directors including the preparation of presentation materials and requires the ability to work collaboratively with others in Legal and staff in other groups in Metropolitan to complete this work within established time limits. The work involves handling privileged and confidential matters and documents with required discretion. The ability to work comfortably with Excel, PowerPoint and other software is encouraged. To view the full job description click here: Legal Assistant III EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and six years of relevant experience in a legal setting. Completion of a legal secretarial program that required a minimum of one year of study may be substituted for one year of experience; or two years in an MWD Legal Assistant II classification.
