DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will implement sound engineering practices while managing multiple construction projects or specific phases of more complex initiatives. Your responsibilities will include applying engineering judgment to analyze, advise, and supervise each assignment from its inception to completion in a professional, timely, cost effective, and safe manner. As the inspector-in-charge, you will focus on highway construction projects, which encompass roadway pavement reconstruction, guiderail installation, flood control measures, and the rehabilitation and replacement of bridges.
Your role involves offering engineering support to address issues that require collaboration with municipalities, private properties, businesses, emergency services, railroads, authorities, utilities, and other construction projects. You will analyze project data to assist the Assistant Construction Engineer (ACE) and Schedule Reviewer with contract scheduling and to tackle problems arising from delays related to these entities. Participation in constructability reviews and meetings will be necessary. Additionally, you will compile and draft necessary documentation, including work order justifications, technical reports, and correspondence related to construction matters. You will also prepare and submit work orders and construction estimates, while ensuring that all materials used in the project are certified and meet specifications.

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bridgeville.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of civil engineering experience and an Engineer-In-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- One year of civil engineering experience in highway design, construction or maintenance related projects and a bachelor's degree with major course work in civil engineering.
