Staff Accountant

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Staff Accountant will:

• Prepare sales tax returns and maintain the Vertex sales tax software and provide guidance on all sales tax inquiries.
• Prepare/pay quarterly state tax payments tax payments for Condy and Carus Group and prepare state tax workpapers.
• Upload month end freight accrual and Alliance transfer.
• Prepare, examine, and distribute multiple month-end reports and reconciliation of various general ledger accounts.
• Primary backup for fixed assets, insurance, and Carus Europe month end and cash posting and unblocking of customer orders.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

The right candidate will be a team player with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Your credentials ideally include:

• Associate's degree required in Accounting/Finance, preferably a bachelor's degree in accounting/finance.
• Three - five years of related accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing/cost accounting.
• Knowledge of sales tax reporting and various sales tax laws.

Ability to analyze and interpret financial results.

• Knowledge of fixed asset accounting and risk assessment related to insurance would be a plus.
• Excel and spreadsheet preparation skills.
• Must be flexible, organized, and able to work under time constraints and deadlines.
• Good verbal and written communication skills are imperative.
• Must be able to work well with people and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
