POSITION SUMMARY:

Sugarbush Resort is seeking a Snowmaking Manager for our snowmaking department. As an experienced snowmaker, the Snowmaking Manager oversees the on-hill staff as well as the control room including 2 supervisors, 8 shift leaders of 4 or more crew members in coordinating the team's mission to deliver the highest quality of snow and an exceptional guest experience. This position of responsibility provides leadership in training, planning, and directing crew activity. This is a full-time year-round salary position.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Strategic planning of program to ensure maximum snow production and quality assurance. Organization and managing systems for mechanical plant and personnel to achieve production and quantity goals.
  • Troubleshooting of equipment system problems and diagnostic of repair.
  • Planning and design of snowmaking infrastructure, new and retrofit.
  • Oversee departmental training and development.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include planning and assigning work, training, evaluating job performance, interviewing, hiring, disciplining, firing, and recommending wages/salaries.
  • Ensure the capability of snowmaking operations including mechanical readiness, proper staffing and training, and proper deployment.
  • Manage and track the costs of operations, particularly energy consumption and operational performance.
  • Assist in planning of future snowmaking expansion and design.
  • Manage, repair and do preventive maintenance of the snowmaking system as it is expected to perform at maximum production at all times in terms of quantity.
  • Snow product is expected to be consistent on all trails, dry and evenly laid.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Applicants must have previous snowmaking experience.
  • High school education or equivalency degree required, BA or BS preferred.
  • Technical training in mechanics, engineering or a related technical field, plus 4-6 years of relevant construction and/or engineering experience.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Broad base of mechanical and heavy construction knowledge and skills relevant to snowmaking, including drilling, blasting and excavation. Welding, materials handling, operation and maintenance of pumps, compressors and similar equipment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of company personnel.
  • Have good planning, administrative and supervisory skills, along with math and budget skills.
  • Must have valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to work long hours, outdoors, overnights and be exposed to the elements.
  • Must be physically able to move/operate equipment and able to lift 50-100lbs worth of equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor and teammates.
  • Experience with ATV/snowmobiles is preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is highly desirable but not required.
  • Timely and reliable attendance is essential.
