As the Sr. Project Manager, you will lead projects from start to finish, ensuring

financial success and seamless collaboration. Partnering with senior leaders, you

will guide teams and consultants to align every detail with the budget, schedule,

and design vision. Championing efficiency and innovation, you will drive

exceptional project execution and create a lasting impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership:


  • Collaborate with the Principal in Charge, Project Architect, and Project Designer to form a cohesive Project Leadership Team.
  • Participates in and/or leads multiple project teams as Senior Project Manager.
  • Leads or assists in developing and validating project scope, fee, schedule, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with client goals and HOK's project planning protocols.
  • Assists in preparing project presentations and may participate in and/or lead client presentations.
  • Consistently provides complete and timely communication of project information to and from clients and the project team.
  • Assists senior management in preparing and executing consultant contracts.
  • Assists with negotiating fees and contracts.
  • Ensures that budgets have been developed to support the HOK Quality Management Program throughout the project's life cycle.
  • Incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
  • Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
  • Oversees project planning and tracking using Deltek VantagePoint.

Management:



  • Collaborates with the Project Architect to minimize conflicts in the schedule resulting from changes in various projects.





  • Plans, organizes, and manages projects. Provides ongoing communication through team meetings/minutes/update memos to the project team.





  • Monitors construction administration during the construction phase





  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with consultants and clients.





  • Ensures project setup, including BIM Execution Plan, project folders, and communication protocols, is completed in accordance with HOK standards.





  • Ensures project risks are identified, documented, and mitigated using the Project Risks module in the Project Execution Portal (Smartsheet).





  • Manage change processes, including tracking additional services and scope changes using the Additional Services module.





  • Leads the development and maintenance of the Deltek Workplan and ensures alignment with the Smartsheet Project Execution Portal.





  • Oversee and ensure compliance with HOK's Project Quality Management System (PQMS), including QA/QC checkpoints, peer reviews, and documentation standards.



Client Interface:



  • Responsible for maintaining client relationships throughout the project, keeping the client apprised of project progress on a regular basis. Initiates and maintains contact with other key project individuals for clarification, coordination, and negotiation of critical issues.





  • Facilitates regular leadership-level check-ins with client counterparts to assess satisfaction and address concerns in a proactive manner.





  • Leads client and stakeholder engagement strategy to ensure alignment with project goals, timely decision-making, and proactive issue resolution.





  • Facilitates phase sign-offs and ensures that all client directions are documented and confirmed in writing.



Business Development:



  • Participates in developing the annual business plan for Regional Practice.





  • Identifies new business opportunities while developing current client relationships.





  • Participates in selected marketing and business development opportunities.





  • Assists in the development of fee proposals for marketing proposals.





  • Leads or participates in project pursuit planning, including Go/No-Go assessments, resource planning, and risk evaluation.





  • Collaborates with marketing and design teams to develop pursuit strategies and proposal content, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with client requirements.





  • Participate in interviews and presentations for new business opportunities.



Staff Development:



  • Provides leadership, including professional development, coaching, and mentoring staff.





  • Defines staff requirements for projects as needed or directed. Makes recommendations to senior management for staff promotions/terminations for the project team and the Architecture discipline.





  • May participate in interviews and recruiting of professional staff.





  • Promotes a culture of mentorship and continuous improvement, encouraging team members to engage in cross-disciplinary learning and leadership development.





  • Supports team performance evaluations and phase debriefs to assess project outcomes and identify areas for growth.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:



  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required. Master's degree preferred.





  • 18+ years' experience in architectural practice with prior project management experience in all phases of projects through post-occupancy.





  • Licensed Architect with current registration in your region preferred, if licensure is offered in your region.





  • NCARB registration preferred.





  • LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.



SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:



  • Ability to effectively work in a team atmosphere. Ability to be flexible in multi-tasking and assignment adjustments.





  • Able to demonstrate proven and effective communication and leadership skills





  • Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.





  • Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems.





  • Advanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines.





  • Thorough knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM)





  • Ability to manage multiple projects of a complex scope.





  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.





  • Proficiency in Deltek Vision VantagePoint preferred.





  • Proficiency in Revit as required of Project Leaders.





  • Awareness of Smartsheet and ability to become familiar with HOK's Smartsheet Project Execution Portal.





  • Strong understanding of project delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CMAR, and IPD.





  • Ability to lead integrated teams in a matrix organization and foster collaboration across regional and firm-wide practices.





  • Experience with sustainable design strategies, including Whole Building Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and AIA 2030 targets.





  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.





  • Ability to work in a team environment.





  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.



OTHER:



  • Some travel will be required.





  • Some overtime will be required.

  • Responsible for ensuring all project documentation is archived according to HOK's Record Retention Schedule.
