The below is a position with ASPEQ Heating Group. ASPEQ Heating Group is a marketplace leader in innovative electric heating solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial markets. With a portfolio that includes baseboard, wall, unit and infrared heaters as well as ceiling fans and air circulators, we create simplified heating solutions for our complex work.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Senior Buyer you will execute the procurement process for assigned commodities/components and communicate with suppliers to guarantee on-time delivery of materials in support of production plan at negotiated best price, and committed service levels. The Senior Buyer will work closely with Strategic Sourcing team in sourcing new product streams, finding new vendors, developing commodity strategies, as well as manage assigned projects. The Senior Buyer will lead the ASPEQ buyers.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Purchasing
  • Review MRP procurement messages to understand material needs driven by the production plan and inventory strategies
  • Compare material needs to current and expected inventories and make decisions regarding purchasing volumes
  • Create purchase orders and route for approvals as necessary. Monitor and track outstanding purchase orders to ensure timely receipt of products
  1. Support Operations and Reporting
  • Analyze purchasing data, supplier performance levels, purchase history, and cost trends
  • Generate reports and provide insights to leadership to support decision making processes
  • Collaborate with the Production Scheduling, Manufacturing, and Sourcing and others to enable accurate forecasting, accurate inventory levels and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain and verify accurate records, including purchase orders, supplier information, contracts, part number description and coordinate drawings.
  • Manage the operations buyers

3.Supplier/Vendor Relations

  • Foster positive relationships with suppliers, acting as a key point of contact for inquiries, negotiations, and issue resolution
  • Follow up with suppliers to obtain confirmation on pricing, delivery, and ensure technical understanding and capability
  • Identify and assess potential suppliers based on quality, capacity, financial stability, and overall fit
  • Participate in on/off-site supplier audits and evaluations and make recommendations regarding supplier performance and retention.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to develop new suppliers with systems to support quick development, low cost, and high quality
  • Support the strategic sourcing process
  1. Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in projects related to purchasing and inventory control to include process improvements, cost reduction initiatives, or system implementation projects
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and new procurement techniques
  • Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • At least 5 years of buying/purchasing experience within a manufacturing or industrial role

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, inventory control, and supply chain principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), particularly Excel for data analytics
  • Proficiency in using purchasing software and enterprise resources planning (ERP) systems (Syteline or MAPICS is plus)
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, including manufacturing, with a professional demeanor
  • Understanding of inventory control techniques and knowledge of implications of BOM accuracy, inventory accuracy, and material transactions/movement within the factory.
  • Conflict resolution abilities to address issues with a positive attitude
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data driven decisions
  • Detailed oriented approach, ensuring accuracy and completeness in data entry and reporting
  • Self-directed and organized, exhibiting strong initiative, and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple priorities in a fast paced and changing environment

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • APICS Certified preferred

Travel & Working Environment

  • Office environment with occasional work in a plant/manufacturing environment
  • Minimal travel (<10%) that includes visits to other facilities, vendors and training.
  • Manufacturing Environment require use of foot, eye and ear protection when in production areas.
