Summary of Job Duties:The Career Coach will provide career education for undergraduate and graduate students through services that support self-exploration, career readiness skill development, and engagement with professionals to explore career options. This role will help students identify, build, and articulate their self-awareness and career-ready skills while also learning to navigate the world of work and advocate for themselves. The Career Coach will collaborate with faculty, employers, and student organization leaders to connect students with opportunities to develop and demonstrate their skills.

Primary responsibilities include conducting one-on-one career coaching appointments, serving as a presenter in classes that have embedded career education components, and teaching at least one career course per year. The Career Coach will also conduct targeted outreach to graduating students based on their responses to the Career Readiness Indicator and First Destination Survey, ensuring support for those still seeking opportunities. Additionally, they will build relationships with faculty and student organization leadership to integrate career education into academic and extracurricular activities. The Career Coach will also facilitate Career Launch cohorts among targeted student populations, helping students develop social capital and professional networks.
To stay current on best practices, the Career Coach will regularly update materials, remain informed about recruiting trends and professional development opportunities, and share employer feedback with students and faculty through social media and other online formats. They will also review students' Career-Ready Badge reflections to inform faculty and student communication strategies.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is essential, along with the ability to maintain collegial and productive working relationships. This position reports to the Director of Career Education in the Offices of Career Connections. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least one year experience working in a career center or a field that closely aligns with the objectives of the position, such as counseling, coordination of human services, training and development, business/corporate or employer relations, marketing/external relations, university advancement/development, or academic advising.

  • Experience mentoring, coaching, teaching, and/or advising college students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree or advanced degree in a related area from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Experience presenting career readiness programs/workshops/seminars

  • Experience collaborating and building cross-functional professional relationships.

  • Experience with independently planning and executing multiple projects simultaneously.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledgeable of Career Development and Student Development Theories

  • Knowledgeable of individual and group coaching, program development, and performance improvement

  • Research and Evaluation skills

  • Ability to use Microsoft 360 applications and data management software designed to track and report on activities
