Physician Assistant I / Emergency Medicine / 36 Hours Nocturnist

The Physician Assistant will provide patient care in the Emergency Department on a nocturnist schedule. The clinical care areas include acute care and observation at BWH, acute care and observation at Faulkner Hospital and urgent care at Brigham and Women's Foxborough Urgent Care sites. As part of comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical examinations, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel patients and interreact with family members and colleagues and prescribe medications. PAs will work under the direct supervision of an attending Emergency Medicine physician unless they meet the criteria in the EM PA Independent Clinical Guidelines. This consists of a minimum of two years of EM experience and demonstration of clinical excellence. The PA will report to the Chief PAs of the Department of Emergency Medicine.

- Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
