Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Post Doctoral Associate within Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Post Doctoral Associate will conduct research investigations into the mechanisms underlying the systemic metabolic imbalance that occurs in diet and cancer. In addition, the Post Doctoral Associate will perform research, experiments, and laboratory techniques of a specialized nature under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator. The Post Doctoral Associate will also draft written reports for inclusion in manuscripts and grant proposals.

Among the key duties for this position are the following:

  • Conducts research experiments to understand the mechanisms that result in diet and cancer and target them for therapy.
  • Prepares written reports of the research experiments.
  • Prepares grant proposals based on the research conducted.
  • Prepares data for presentations and publications. Presents research results at laboratory and scientific meetings at the local and national level.
  • Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, lower-level professionals and technicians in laboratory techniques, instrumentation, etc. to develop the skills necessary to perform the required functions.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Ph.D. or M.D. in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology or a relevant science.

  • ABD candidates may be considered, qualified candidates must be in the process of completing or have finished the training for Ph.D. and/or M.D.
  • Candidates must provide proof that all requirements have been fulfilled before their position start date.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Effective oral and communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases.
  • Universal precautions are mandatory.
