Shipping & Receiving Lead

Title: Lead Status: Hourly

Plant and Department: Shipping/Receiving

Reports to: Shipping & Receiving Supervisor

Purpose: As Shipping & Receiving Lead, you'll play a key role in the heart of our operations. You'll ensure every shipment-whether arriving at our dock or leaving for the customer-meets our high standards for accuracy and quality. You'll work closely with carriers, internal teams, and customers, helping us achieve timely deliveries and maintain long-standing client relationships. Your leadership will also inspire our shipping and receiving team to meet and exceed daily goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to: Receiving powders from foundry and making labels. Over checking bill of lading and shipping documents. Checking orders for skidder and ups/fed ex. Back-up for UPS/Fedex clerk, coordinators, or packers. Final checks for packing records for discrepancies. Fill in for shipping supervisor when out.

Essential Functions:


  • Performs AX Transactions to bring Finished Goods into inventory.
  • Conducts daily cycle counts to ensure Finished Goods Accuracy.
  • Responsible for all deliveries coming into the facility.
  • Ensure all materials received have proper documentation and are received in the system within 24 hours.
  • Maintains receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring packaging operations meet daily shipment expectations.
  • Oversee and verify documentation for outgoing shipments.
  • Schedules and assigns workload for employees.
  • Mentor & Trainer for all team members in the department. Ensure that training documents are submitted.
  • Ensure new/existing employees adhere to changes in procedures/policies and regulation both internal and external.
  • Monthly require safety audits (JHA's). Ensure audit documents are submitted.
  • Oversee outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Conduct daily huddle meeting with team.
  • Completes other job-related duties as assigned.


Non-Essential Functions:


  • Ability to maintain quality control standards
  • Work with other departments on any issues/concerns
  • Maintain work area for cleanliness and efficient operation
  • Prepare reports as needed



Minimum Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of inventory controls, shipping and receiving procedures
  • Experience working with AX, Adobe, Excel, Word, Data Entry, Fed Ex & UPS Shipping Software is required
  • Experience with Hazmat Certification for domestic & air shipments is required.
  • Experience working with shipping equipment i.e. banders, band cutters, wrap machines etc.
  • Experience operating Forklifts, i.e. Crown Stand Up, Sit Down & Pallet Jack.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have organizational and time management skills
  • Supervisory experience is preferred



Education:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent



Working Hours and Conditions, including Travel Required:

Heavy physical demands. Lifting of 50 to 75 lbs. High stress depending on production. It is optional to wear a dust mask when needed due to Nickel, Chrome, Cobalt, Iron, Silicon, and Copper elements.

Ability to calculate and determine exact weights of materials inbound and out bound. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures to daily tasks. Ability to conform to established quality control standards and procedures. Ability to drive stand-up forklifts and sit-down forklifts.
