Job Description

Summary
The Office of Reservations and Events provides logistics and services support for events and meetings taking place throughout the University of Missouri campus seven days a week. This support includes planning with clients, setting up rooms, providing service to events, and assisting with technology as needed.

The Event Operations Coordinator will coordinate the staffing needs for the Event Operations student staff who support the full-time staff in onsite event operations. The Event Operations Coordinator will mainly be responsible for the critical function of recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating a student workforce of about 30-40 individuals who will fill shifts throughout the day, evening, and weekends. This position may also directly plan, coordinate, or execute event details, when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily coordination and scheduling of Event Operations staff to meet the dynamic needs of the department. Staff levels can change daily to meet the assigned event workload.
  • Recruit, hire, train and evaluate student employees to be placed in positions as on-site supervisors, technical specialists, and general support crew.
  • Provide on-site senior leadership in rotation with other full-time department staff.
  • Directly plan, coordinate, or execute event details.
  • Evaluate and recommend process and procedure changes to improve the student workforce in quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Work on additional projects as assigned by senior level management.

Reports to the Associate Director for Reservations & Events.

Shift

Weekly schedule will vary with event needs and can include nights and weekends; when events are light: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

  • Experience with EMS (event management software).
  • A valid driver's license and a willingness to drive a 16' straight box truck as needed.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $21.28/hr - $25.00/hr

Grade: GGS-009
