Job Description

As a SSD Debug Engineer, your primary role is to triage and debug SSD drive failures for our data center SSD product line. In this role, you will work closely with the Product Support Engineering team to assist with resolution of customer reported issues and lead activities to root cause failures. This includes tracking multiple issues and driving stakeholders to deliver in high-pressure situations. The candidate will be a critical stakeholder in the decision making process with an emphasis on providing solutions that are acceptable to customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform debug for SSD related issues reported from customers, Joint Qualifications and Customer Qualifications
  • Work closely with product development teams to drive issues to resolution in a timely manner
  • Represent owned issues in debug forums and customer meetings
  • Drive and manage issues in bug tracking database
  • Perform required lab work to replicate the reported issues
  • Create 8D/failure analysis reports and explain to the customer
  • Write product use-case technical white papers as needed
Qualifications
  • BS degree in computer engineering or equivalent field with minimum 10 years of experience in a technical related field or MS degree in computer engineering or equivalent field with minimum 8 years of experience in a technical related field.
  • Proven NVMe and PCIe experience debugging complex SSD issues
  • SSD Firmware architecture and/or validation/test experience
  • Excellent understanding of debug tools: PCIe and NVME protocol analyzers
  • Data center/server storage knowledge and experience
  • Open Source SSD Tools, such as, NVMe-CLI, FIO
  • Good understanding of Open Compute Platform (OCP) specifications
  • Experience with Telemetry, Host logs (dmesg, event logs), Firmware trace logs
  • Experience in interacting with key stakeholders of a product development organization
  • SSD Firmware development/debug a plus
  • NVMe driver knowledge is a plus
  • Experience with NVMe-MI, TCG, SMBus and NAND characteristics is a plus
  • Able to travel when and where needed - both domestic and international

The expected salary for this position is$133,459.00 - $222,511.00.
