Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants for a Facility Maintenance Crew Chief vacancy within Facility Maintenance Operations, working in one of the following specific areas: Facilities Security, Facilities Safety & Surveillance, Public Safety, Specialty Units, Emergency Power, Preventive Maintenance, General Government, Parks & Recreation Facilities, or Libraries.

Of particular interest are candidates with a background in Facility Security, Safety, and Surveillance. This position will be a working supervisor over multiple crews in operating, maintaining, and repairing various facility systems, devices, and equipment in County occupied buildings, including but not limited to:
* Camera Systems
* Fire Alarm Systems
* Sprinkler Systems
* Access Control Systems
* Keying & Lock Hardware
* Overhead Doors
* Intrusion Systems
* Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing Systems

Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Safely performing advanced, complex life safety and security work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of systems, devices, and equipment
* Additional knowledge of emergency power systems (generators, UPS, and related devices), HVAC, building automation, and other systems, devices, and equipment are highly valued
* Reviewing work orders, establishing priorities, making daily work assignments to technicians, and scheduling preventive maintenance work
* Coordinating the work of contractors as needed
* Conducting periodic mechanical systems inspections
* Performing administrative duties to include submission of all purchase documentation according to County and departmental guidelines
* Providing superior customer service

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.




Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with coursework or experience in MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) trades; four (4) years of related work experience installing and maintaining commercial mechanical systems, devices, and equipment, and including a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Highly prefer candidates with experience installing and maintaining commercial Life Safety and Security systems, devices, and equipment.

Prefer certifications in Access Controls, Fire Safety Systems, and/or Building Automation Systems.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Successful candidate will undergo pre-employment criminal, credit, and DMV record background checks, to include criminal justice information system (CJIS) fingerprinting.

* A valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
* Hold or obtain a CFC License and Master's License (in Mechanical, Electrical, and/or plumbing disciplines) within six (6) months of hire.
* Subject to recall and/or being held beyond scheduled workday if required by County or departmental requirements.
* Respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive.
* This position is considered essential.
