Your role and responsibilities
ABB is currently seeking a Legal Counsel for Robotics Business Area in the US. This role is re-sponsible for assisting in the development and implementation of business-centered legal strategies that drive increased order volume for the division while simultaneously protecting against significant risks. Guide and counsel stakeholders to ensure comprehension and coordination of the necessary legal measures to ensure the successful operation of the various Robotic Businesses. Advise and represent the Robotics Business' interests regarding the various legal matters that these Businesses encounter in their respective markets. The work model for the role is: #LI - Hybrid, East Coast USA This role is contributing to the Robotics & Discrete Automation Division of ABB. Main stakeholders are both our internal and external customers. You will be mainly accountable for: *Serving as Legal Counsel for the Business Area matters in the US with ongoing monitoring of applicable laws, regulations and policies. *Draft, negotiate, analyze, and evaluate commercial agreements with limited to no supervision. Independently spearhead projects and provide ad hoc legal advice and counsel with limited to no supervision. *Support cross border contractual and product liability matters, compile and analyze regulatory and business information and provide a comprehensive written analysis of such information *Prepares summaries of contracts highlighting key risks and review/approve high volume of non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements. *Ensure compliance with government contracts and support in legal trainings and processes *Participation in business meetings (support to business areas) Legal advice in general terms *Coordinate with Legal colleagues in other Businesses and assist in cost-effective and timely resolution of business disputes and lawsuits. *Participate in Risk Reviews according to Company and Business regulations and instructions.
Qualifications for the role
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and bar admission in the USA practicing for 7+ years within commercial law and contractual work, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Sound legal judgment in developing and implementing legal solutions. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Comprehensive understanding of contractual legal matters, strong attention to detail, strong collaborator and user of Teams and other tools. strong change agent, offering suggestions for process improvement
- A results-oriented professional with strong common sense and superior business acumen.
- The ability to be recognized as an independent and respected legal advisor, and ability to work in a complex, matrix structure where cooperation is often gained through influence rather than through direct command.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage a significant workload.
- Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the United States.
