Job Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for generating productivity increases, enhancing product quality, and reducing costs through process/layout improvements, machinery specifications, and the development of new technologies.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Functions as an internal consultant in the areas of productivity improvement, process efficiencies, cost reduction, and facility layout
  • Researches and develops new technologies to enhance efficiencies, product quality and productivity
  • Works with the Quality Control department to ensure compliance with code reports
  • Identifies and implements changes to the process to enhance the overall appearance of finish product
  • Develops operating profiles that maximize output, product quality, and minimize scrap and ensure their use throughout the plant
  • Trains operators on how to properly identify and correct problems in production
  • Troubleshoots production-related problems and assists in bringing the product back into specification
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of related machinery and equipment for possible operation applications and assists in machinery and equipment specification
  • Works with vendors on machinery specifications to enhance productivity
  • Manages all aspects of the development and implementation of production projects
  • Prepares and/or revises the plant layout as required
  • Participates in the Safety Committee and ensures that the operation is consistent with Company and OSHA policies, practices and procedures
  • Prepares various reports as required
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering-related discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of profile extrusion experience is required; experience with wood-plastic composites is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations
