The Certified Nurse Midwife provides exceptional direct diagnostic and therapeutic care to women throughout the life cycle in the nurse midwifery model of care in both the office setting and labor and birth. The CNM works in collaboration with the attending physician as part of a multidisciplinary team. Cultivates a patient centric environment which focuses on the whole individual inclusive of physical, psychosocial, spiritual and functional needs of the patient, family and significant others. Serves as the focal professional for the continuity of care in patient care within scope of practice standards, as well as specialty specific standards to address and resolve problems that may arise. Qualifications: Registered nurse licensure; Certified Nurse Midwife license; requires both undergraduate and master's degree; Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification required; Assisted surgeries certification (must be obtained within 6 months of employment), BLS certification required. Experience: Preferred One (1) to two (2) years midwifery experience in culturally diverse setting. Responsibilities
Qualifications EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited Nurse Midwifery program-Certificate, Masters or Doctoral Program EXPERIENCE One to Two years of experience as a CNM or equivalent combined training and experience APRNs, PAs, CRNAs and CNMs are required to be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS Hospital and credentialed through the Medical Staff process. Evidence of current competence to practice as {an APRN, PA, CRNA, CNM} via appropriate reference letters from physicians and other practitioners must be able to be obtained during the Medical Staff appointment process in order to be eligible. LICENSURE Certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board Connecticut State Licensed Nurse Midwife license, Connecticut State Registered Nurse LicenseBLS/NRP certifiedDEA license, State of Connecticut Controlled Substance LicenseComplete Electronic Fetal Monitoring course every 2 years SPECIAL SKILLS Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
