Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Library Assistant for
RUL New Brunswick Libraries.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides circulation services including checkout, returns, patron and item record maintenance.
- Understands and interprets policy for users and part-time employees; solves routine and nonroutine, complex user problems and refers unresolved problems and questions to a supervisor.
- Instructs users on how to use My Account, renew their checkouts, places requests for books, digitization, and Interlibrary loan books and articles, and how to search and use course reserve materials.
- Provides directional and general library information assistance.
- Works with desktop applications such as MS Office and library automated software while performing the work of the Access Services unit.
- Monitors student workers on the accurate use of appropriate library and university systems; serves as a resource to student employees.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Careful attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently.
