Smith College: Massachusetts: Department of Education and Child Study Location Northampton, MA Open Date Apr 25, 2025 Description The Department of Education and Child Study at Smith College invites applications for a one-year, benefits eligible ( FTE) position at the rank of Lab Instructor to begin July 1, 2025. This position supports our undergraduate and graduate licensure programs by coordinating K-12 fieldwork placements, sustaining partnerships with local schools, supervising course field-work experiences, and teaching field-based practicum labs. They will also lead school partnership development, manage placement logistics, and mentor pre-service teachers in connecting course content with field experiences. Other courses may be taught depending upon the candidate's field of specialization. Candidates should have a strong foundation in K-12 teaching/teacher education and candidates with experience in coordinating or teaching fieldwork or practica, MA licensure or licensure eligibility, at least three years teaching in k-12 settings and familiarity with liberal arts college teaching contexts are encouraged to apply. Master's degree in education, teaching or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in teaching and teacher education are encouraged to apply.
