Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting experiments on chick embryos, including electroporation, sectioning, and staining, as well as cell culture work under the supervision of the PI.

Essential Job Duties

Under general supervision, works from verbal and/or written instructions and established operating procedures to accomplish routine assignments.

  • Applies basic knowledge of scientific methods and select techniques to assist research efforts.
  • Provides assistance in performing lab procedures, i.e., setting up equipment, preparing samples, specimens, solutions, reagents, cultures, minor animal surgeries, etc., recording observations, and reporting results to researchers.
  • Diagnoses and notifies technical lead and/or research personnel of any problems and/or issues related to equipment, research, etc.
  • Assists in literature research; provides information for research reports, journals, and/or article writing as needed.
  • Applies advanced knowledge of laboratory and/or equipment cleaning products to assist personnel in multiple laboratory settings; may arrange for laboratory equipment to be cleaned or repaired.
  • May assist research group with basic configuration and testing of scientific protocols and computer software used for research/experiments.
  • May assist research group in analyzing research data using specific software applications.
  • May assist in assembling and installing prototype equipment, apparatus, or instruments used in research.
  • May operate, calibrate, and test scientific equipment and instruments used in research; reports malfunctions to the appropriate research staff.
  • May provide routine animal husbandry and care for laboratory animals.
  • May participate in providing feedback on the effectiveness of standard operating procedures.
  • May maintain laboratory stock of supplies and initiate and/or place orders for equipment, supplies, materials, animals, etc.
Basic Qualifications
  • B.S. degree with training in developmental biology.
  • Experience with chick embryology.
  • Some molecular biology experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree and lab experience in avian experimental biology.

Hiring Range

$18.50 - $24.75 Per Hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
