Job Summary
The Assistant Track and Field Coach assists the Head Track and Field Coach with practice and training planning, player development, team management, scouting, recruiting and strategy. This position is also responsible for overseeing the functionality of the Track and Field team and an auxiliary role for the athletic department.

Responsibilities

1. Program Management - 20%
  • Assist the Head coach with practice planning, organization and implementation.
  • Assist the head coach with game preparation and implementation.
  • Assist the head coach to align with MIAC and NCAA policies.
  • Assist the head coach with all program logistics.


2. Player Development - 20%
  • Assist the head coach with player development athletically, spiritually and academically.


3. Player Recruitment - 20%
  • Identify, evaluate and recruit student athletes that are excellent athletically, academically and personally.
  • Assist the head coach to maintain identified roster sizes.


4. Additional Athletic Department Responsibilities - 40%
  • This position will oversee the daily operations and programming of the Student Recreation Center (SRC), ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for students and other users.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to support wellness initiatives and recreational programming.
  • Assist with other departmental needs and responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Experience

Required Experience:
  • 1+ years of experience coaching Track and Field at the NCAA Level OR
  • 3+ years of experience coaching Track and Field at the High School Level OR
  • Experience as a highly competitive student-athlete
Education

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree.

Additional Information

Travel: This position requires frequent local travel and regional and national travel.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Expected Hours of Work:

Typically, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with the expectation to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management. Frequent evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This is a 40 hour per week, 12 months per year position.
