Office of the Dean, The George Washington University School of Nursing
The Office of the Dean at the School of Nursing is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to the Dean and the entire school. Our team is committed to ensuring the smooth operation of various administrative and logistical functions, which are essential for the success of our academic and professional community.
Key responsibilities of the Office include:
- Capital Project Planning and Management: Overseeing the development and execution of major projects to enhance our facilities.
- Facilities Management: We coordinate with the GW facilities team and the on-site contractors to ensure that our physical spaces are well-maintained and conducive to learning and working.
- Mail Management: Handling all incoming and outgoing correspondence efficiently.
- Office Supplies Management: Managing the procurement and distribution of office supplies to ensure all departments are well-equipped.
- Emergency and Safety Point of Contact: Serving as the primary contact for emergency situations and safety protocols.
- Space Management: Allocating and managing space to meet the needs of our faculty, staff, and students.
- Events Management: Organizing and coordinating events, including graduations and pinning ceremonies, to celebrate our community's achievements.
- Employee Onboarding and Off-boarding: Coordinating the onboarding and off-boarding processes, including workstation readiness, IT equipment ordering, and system access provisioning.
- Dean's Calendar Management: Managing Dean's schedule, organizing meetings, sending invitations, preparing agendas, and taking meeting minutes.
- Our office plays a pivotal role in maintaining the School of Nursing's operational excellence, ensuring that all members of our community have the resources and support they need to thrive.
The Program Manager plays a significant role in the mission and vision of the Office of the Dean.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Serve as primary contact for conference and event management, which includes but is not limited to:
- Consulting with and guiding faculty and staff who sought to organize an event.
- Approving event request forms
- Selecting venues for the event
- Collect quotes, short-list them, and negotiate with vendors as per the GW Procurement Guidelines.
- Routing agreements through GW-approved systems
- Following up with the GW Procurement and Finance teams
- Working with vendors for the successful execution of events
- Organizing faculty and staff members to assist with events
- Updating the Events Dashboard
- Managing Events and Administrative Calendars
- Managing the reservation of conference or meeting rooms under the School of Nursing
2. Student-related events: The School of Nursing holds various events every semester, and the Program Manager is expected to work closely with the Student Enrollment and Success department for the successful planning and execution of these events. The most repeated signature events are listed below:

- Composite Photoshoot
- Campus Store Pop-Up
- Doggie Distress
- Finals Week Snacks
- Graduating Cohort Reception
- Faculty and Staff Excellence Award Celebration
- Sigma Induction
- Spring graduation
- Graduation reception
- Pinning Ceremonies
- Program Evaluation Day
3. Guided by the Director of Operations and Special Projects, the Program Manager supports the Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence in organizing student events, seminars, film screenings, and other administrative tasks.
4. When tasked by the Director of Operations and Special Projects, the Program Manager provides logistical and administrative support to the Assistant Dean for Assessment, Evaluation, and Accreditation.
5. The Program Manager will take turns attending leadership meetings and taking meeting minutes.
6. The Program Manager is highly encouraged to participate actively in different staff-related committees and councils.
7. Other administrative tasks: The Director of Operations and Special Projects will assign other functions related to the Office of the Dean as deemed necessary.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Strong computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office Suite and Google environment is preferred.
- Event Management skill is needed but not mandatory.
- Experience with SharePoint, Tableau, and Excel is advantageous.
