Job Title: QC Microbiology Associate

Location: Allentown, PA

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay Rate: Up to $27.00/hour

Type: Long-Term Contract with opportunity to go permanent


Position Summary:

We are seeking a QC Analytical Lab Associate - Microbiology to join our Quality team in a GMP-compliant, regulated laboratory environment. This role is ideal for individuals with at least 1 year of lab experience and a background in Biology, Microbiology, or Pharmacy. You will play a vital role in microbiological testing, aseptic process validation, and environmental monitoring, supporting sterile product manufacturing and cleanroom compliance.


Key Responsibilities:
Microbiology & Lab Testing:


  • Perform Sterility Testing via direct inoculation in ISO 5 cleanroom using full aseptic gowning.



  • Conduct Bacterial Endotoxin Testing (BET) using the Kinetic Chromogenic method.



  • Prepare and autoclave TSB media, tools, and glassware for sterility and growth promotion testing.



  • Conduct Growth Promotion and pH Testing for in-house and commercial media.



  • Perform Gram staining and subculturing of microbial isolates.



  • Collect and prepare samples for bioburden and cytotoxicity testing.




Environmental Monitoring:


  • Gown into production areas to perform viable and non-viable sampling (air, surface, and particulate).



  • Incubate and read environmental plates; document results according to GMP guidelines.



  • Trend and analyze environmental monitoring data to support compliance.




Quality System Support:


  • Participate in media fill validations and inspection of filled units.



  • Review compounding records (cleaning logs, line clearance forms, inventory sheets).



  • Verify raw materials and labeling; submit samples for identification or microbial analysis.



  • Maintain and review documentation to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and internal SOPs.



  • Assist in equipment calibration, maintenance, and recordkeeping.



  • Help initiate and document deviations, CAPA, and complaint investigations.



  • Support internal and external audits and assist in maintaining quality records.




Required Qualifications:


  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Pharmacy, or related field (required)



  • At least 1 year of experience in a laboratory or GMP-regulated environment (required)



  • Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and cleanroom gowning protocols



  • Familiarity with GMP documentation standards and laboratory safety practices



  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow SOPs



  • Comfortable working with biological samples, media, and sterilization tools (autoclaves, laminar flow hoods, etc.)





Physical Requirements:


  • Regularly required to sit, talk, and use hands; occasional standing and lifting (up to 45 lbs)



  • Gowning and work within controlled cleanroom environments required
