Nature and Scope

The QC Microbiologist II will perform microbial testing and environmental monitoring according to current guidance and established procedures for analysis of samples in the Quality Control Microbiology Laboratory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Successfully operate instrumentation including: pH meter, Balances, Autoclave, Vitek ID System, Sterility Isolator/LFH/BSC, BET System, Active Air Sampler.

  • Train and qualify the following: environmental monitoring, sterility, bioburden/water testing, BET, and special projects such as method suitability testing, container closure studies, etc.

  • Write and perform Protocols and Reports.

  • Maintain all necessary documentation regarding all activities listed above.

  • Train and provide technical assistance and guidance to microbiologists and laboratory technicians as necessary.

  • Offer input/suggestions for improvement in laboratory operations and procedures.

  • Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by management.

Education Requirements and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor's degree in science Microbiology, Biology or related field required.

  • Minimum of two years relevant pharmaceutical laboratory experience, experience in sterile injectables preferred.

  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Adequate knowledge of Laboratory Equipment such as autoclaves, air samplers, isolators, particle counters, LFH/BSC hoods, etc.

  • Good oral and written communication skills, detail oriented, capable of multi-tasking.

  • Knowledge of GMP and GDP.

  • Ability to work independently.

Expected Salary range:

$79,900 - $84,000

The salary range displayed is the minimum and maximum salary range for the role that the employer in good faith believes to be accurate at the time of the posting of an advertisement for the role. Actual compensation for the role will be based on a number of different factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, knowledge, skills and experience.
