Job Description Summary

Responsible for maintaining the overall security environment of financial applications, including Workday (including Finance, Payroll and Student Financials), Cognos and Nelnet. This includes reviewing user security requests, seeking appropriate approvals and executing requests once approved. Position partners with units throughout Finance to execute routine security reviews to ensure the continued integrity of the applications' security environment. Position also works with departmental vendors to ensure appropriate security reviews are conducted on a routine basis. Acts as a liaison between Information Security (in particular Information Security) and Finance.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Develops, maintains and reviews application security access for departmental and campus users to ensure internal controls are maintained systematically and data is protected from unauthorized access.
  • Analyzes security change requests, determines appropriate approvals and executes changes once approved.
  • Accountable for executing and getting approval for security reviews on a rolling basis (e.g. weekly, quarterly and annual reviews). Systems include Workday (including Financials, Payroll and Student Financials), Cognos and Nelnet.
  • Leads vendor security reviews for Financial Services' initiatives as well as annual recurring reviews. Acquires vendor audit reports (SOC1, SOC2) and partners with other units within Financial Services to understand required complementary controls and the potential impact of documented audit issues.
  • Maintains user and Finance Systems documentation as it relates to security procedures.
  • Consistently promotes best practices and high levels of customer service. Has a strong focus on completing security requests in a timely manner.
  • Meets regularly with Information Systems (Information Security, particularly) to ensure that a strong cross-functional relationship exists with this important partner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business, accounting or computer science-related field and at least three years of experience implementing and/or maintaining ERP systems in a finance or accounting function and related applications or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of the Workday Financials ERP platform, including security, configuration transaction processing / business process design and reporting.
  • Ability to maintain the security and confidentiality of any proprietary or sensitive data in any medium regarding the university or its students, faculty, or staff.
  • Exceptional organization skills, a detail orientation, and a proven ability to follow projects and issues through to completion.
  • Must be comfortable in an environment that places high emphasis on collaboration, continuous improvement, teamwork, and excellent customer service.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Familiarity with higher education administration current best practices and leading edge technologies.
  • Demonstrated accounting knowledge.
