Job Summary:

The WIDA Assistant Director of Professional Learning Curriculum is located within the Educator Learning, Research, and Practice (ELRP) department and will report to the WIDA Professional Learning Curriculum Director. This position will be responsible for leading the creation of professional learning content across WIDA's programs. The Assistant Director (AD) will also, in collaboration with the Director of Professional Learning Curriculum, plan for professional learning curriculum strategy and oversee the more intentional integration of Spanish Language Development (SLD) and English Language Development (ELD) content. In addition, the AD will lead a team of curriculum specialists, support educator outreach initiatives, and collaborate with instructional designers, researchers, and facilitators to ensure the consistent quality of WIDA?s professional learning content. This role may also assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the director and/or required by WIDA's strategic priorities.

This position will be eligible for fully remote work as assigned by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A successful candidate will have the ability to work from home or an alternate office location as the position's Headquarters Location. This means that business travel and travel back to UW-Madison's campus would be compensated and eligible for reimbursement. Responsibilities:
Coordinates management of multiple related projects and/or ongoing operations, which are directed toward a common objective. Monitors the cost, schedule, and performance of component projects and operations while working to ensure the ultimate success of the program.

  • 20% Creates a program plan and structure, monitors progress and performance against the program plan, and identifies, resolves, or escalates program risks and issues
  • 20% Leads and manages efforts to determine and coordinate the sharing of resources among component projects to the overall benefit of the program
  • 10% Manages the activities of outside contractors and vendors to ensure they are integrated into the program and that the organization receives satisfactory standards of service
  • 5% Facilitates the estimation of program costs, resources, and time required to complete the overall program, monitors activities and budgets, directs and leads component project manager activities for consistency and alignment, and works with program leadership to ensure these targets are met. Follows established change control processes if targets can no longer be met
  • 10% Prepares regular reports to communicate the status of the program within and beyond the program team, communicates program goals, risks, and status with program executive level, program sponsors, and stakeholders, and develops and uses appropriate dashboards, measures, and reporting tools
  • 15% Sets priorities, allocates tasks, and collaborates with project staff to meet program targets and milestones. Manages the change control process and acts as the mid-level decision making authority
  • 20% Supervises team members to ensure performance toward progress and achievement of program goals

Qualifications:

Required
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing content to support educators and/or adult learners
- Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish
- Demonstrated knowledge of the field of second language acquisition including the use of English language development (ELD) and Spanish language development (SLD) standards; the role of academic language in content learning, and research-based instructional practices
- Experience in the development of organizational systems, on-going strategic planning, administration, and management of projects, deadlines, and budgets
- Experience with the development of professional learning content across various mediums, including virtual and in-person workshops, webinars, video, and self-paced online courses
- Superior writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency using digital tools for coordinating workflow and documenting plans and outcomes
- Experience supervising and coaching a team and contributing to strategic planning

Preferred
- Familiarity with the WIDA ELP Assessment system, which includes ELP standards, assessments and professional learning.
- Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning and andragogy/adult learning
- Direct K-12 classroom experience supporting multilingual learners

It is anticipated this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location.
