Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager Loan Closing!

About the role

Develop and manage a team of loan closing professionals and a lead position in the closing of commercial real estate loan investments and the documentation/closing of various loan events such as loan assumptions. The position will be responsible for managing and reporting on the loan closing process and analyzing and evaluating technical issues that come up in the closing process. The position will also develop and create loan closing processes and documentation and insure procedures are adequately followed.

Our Commercial Mortgage Loans team is part of Symetra Investment Management (SIM) which was established in 2019 and is a subsidiary of Symetra who is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Life of Japan. SIM enables Sumitomo to invest in the U.S. markets and to expand in-house asset management capabilities. SIM is also an SEC-registered investment advisor providing third party investment management to institutional clients.

What you will do:



  • Develop the Loan Closing team, including as necessary closing lead position(s) through recruitment and hiring, training, goal setting, performance feedback, performance reviews and career development planning.
  • Responsible for the department's loan closing process including tracking, resource allocation, process management and pipeline reporting for a pipeline that may reach up to 100 loans on properties in all part of the country and which may include complicated structures.
  • Provide technical supervision to Loan Closing team in the areas of loan documentation, title insurance, borrow formation documents, hazard and liability insurance, environmental condition (working with outside consultant), tenant documentation and escrow.
  • Together with other functional areas within the mortgage loan department develop and/or improve loan closing processes to meet growth needs.

Compensation

Salary Range: $103,300 to 172,200 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Your education, experience and skills



  • BA or BS undergraduate degree.
  • 10 years of commercial real estate lending experience.
  • Proven experience or aptitude for managing a team of real estate closing or escrow professionals.
  • Technical expertise in all aspects of commercial loan closing.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment.
  • Developed skills in customer service.
  • Oral and written skills enabling effective one-on-one and small group communication.
  • Attention to details and accuracy.
  • Sound basic mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Computer skills - strong proficiency in Word, Excel, e-mail, Web.


Travel:



  • Required Training & Professional Development All newly hired people leaders with direct reports are required to complete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year.
