Position Description |
The Department of English at the College of Charleston welcomes applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor position with a start date of August 16, 2025. A Ph.D. in Composition Studies or a Ph.D. or M.F.A. in a related discipline with training in rhetoric, composition, and first-year writing is required. The teaching assignment is 12 credit hours of first-year writing instruction per semester (three four-credit hour courses) and includes opportunities to teach composition in the College of Charleston's Honors College and First-Year Experience Program.
The College of Charleston is located in historic downtown Charleston in a coastal metropolitan area of 800,000. The College is a public liberal arts and sciences institution with a student body of approximately 1,100 graduate students, 10,000 undergraduate students, 20% of whom identify as minority, and 140 international students from 34 different countries.
