The Capital Finance and Real Estate Operations Manager will be responsible for:
  • Preparing and updating detailed and summary reports of the Capital Program by funding source, operating department, and VP area.

  • Managing and controlling the annual routine capital budgeting process.

  • Providing direction and analysis to Financial Reporting in support of creating the annual Depreciation budget; responsible for analyzing variances related to Depreciation.

  • Taking primary responsibility for capital reconciliation and reporting from the Capital budget system; preparing reports and reconciliations monthly as part of the financial close process.

  • Working closely with the Project Management team to ensure capital projects reconcile between the budget system and the project management system.

  • Maintaining the Capital budget system to ensure accurate project coding, funding sources, and budget transfers.

  • Evaluating, recommending, and implementing system changes or upgrades as appropriate.

  • Overseeing Administration and Finance responsibilities for capital expenditure reclassifications.

  • Tracking Capital budget transfers and the addition of new projects to the Capital portfolio.

  • Monitoring and reporting on projects approved by governing boards to ensure compliance with approved spending limits.

  • Forecasting project spend to assist with cash flow projections and depreciation planning.

  • Serving as liaison to the Accounting Department for classification and treatment of capital projects.

  • Supporting classification of projects as construction-in-progress, fixed assets, other assets, and assessing project status.

  • Developing monthly financial reports and narratives for executive leadership on capital spending, projections, and budget performance.

  • Providing strategic support and addressing management needs through routine and ad hoc financial reports and analysis.

  • Monitoring and maintaining department recordkeeping systems, including sensitive or critical administrative and financial data.

  • Overseeing input of information into databases and spreadsheets, monitoring data integrity, and compiling/distributing periodic reports.

  • Creating presentations for leadership and executive audiences.

  • Developing and maintaining policies and procedures related to capital oversight.

  • Participating in administrative and policy discussions and offering recommendations for improved management of Hospital capital and real estate operations.

  • Collaborating with IT on system maintenance, support, and ongoing improvements.

  • Serving as an institutional resource for supporting efficient and appropriate use of capital funding.

  • Partnering with Strategic Business Planning to develop capital plans for the Long-Term Planning model.

  • Working closely with the Treasury department on short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts related to capital.

In order to qualify, you must have:

  • CPA license is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Master's degree is preferred
  • 7 years of related experience with focus on capital budget creation, reporting and analytics is required
  • 5-10 years of public/private accounting experience preferable, particularly with large academic medical center experience is preferred
  • Leadership and supervisory experience; project management expertise.is preferred
  • Working knowledge of the accounting treatment of capital expenditures and fixed assets.
  • Previous use of a large ERP system.
