Responsible for accurate and timely processing of items related to patient demographics, insurance information, constent forms, scheduling and financial obligation. This position is the first impression of WVU Healthcare to the patient.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. West Virginia state criminal background check, and federal, if applicable, required for DHHR regulated area. EXPERIENCE:

1. Four (4) years of patient financial services, patient access, or registration experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Supervisory experience.

1. Provides daily supervision to registration and scheduling staff to ensure prompt, courteous service to patients, visitors, providers and co-workers.
2. Monitors daily operations to ensure adherence to documented policies and procedures regarding collection of patient demographic information and financial data within their department
3. Coordinates registration, scheduling activity and managed care referrals with other clinical facilities and departments to ensure continuity of care and optimal communication.
4. Coordinates and organizes collection and verification of insurance/financial information for patients prior to appointment or during the check in process.
5. Compiles and completes daily departmental deposits. Complies with cash policies and procedures.
6. Participates in meeting the goals and objectives of the work unit and department to ensure the department contributes to the attainment of WVUH goals and objectives.
7. Demonstrates regard for the dignity, respect and safety of all patients, family members and visitors as defined in the philosophy of the organization.
8. May conduct new employee orientation and provide continuing training to employees.
9. Provides a supportive atmosphere for both co-workers and providers.
10. Acts as liaison with Human Resources and other departments regarding the dissemination of information to co-workers.

4. Visual acuity must be within normal range.
5. Must be able to exert in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally to move patients or objects.
6. Must have manual dexterity to operate keyboards, fax machines, telephones and other business equipment.
