This position reports to the Production Manager. Primary responsibility is to support the Amada turret presses and Laser programming. This position will also be required to perform assigned group leader functions to assist the Production Manager and support floor personnel in daily production activities as required by the FMT.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities (THE WHAT)

Creates, troubleshoots, and verifies CNC programs for the Amada turret punch presses and Laser. This position is also responsible for training on safety, setup, troubleshooting, and efficient machine operation, plus managing and ordering consumable replacement parts and tooling for this equipment.
- Act as the technical resource to Product & Process Engineers and NPD to ensure design for manufacturability techniques (standardization & simplification) have been employed (for safety, quality, and cost).
- Identify tooling needs for new and existing parts and be responsible for ordering and managing the CNC tooling budget.
- Responsible for identifying, justifying, and implementing new software as required to maximize "green light" time and material utilization through nesting and nibbling.
- Responsible for creating a daily nest to maximize machine "green light" time and material utilization.
- Responsible for identifying, justifying, and implementing new tooling to improve safety & quality and reduce shearing and punching hours and associated costs.
- Generates methods and trains operators on standard operating procedures (best practice).
- Identifies opportunities to utilize time internal to the CNC cycle for secondary operations.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining standard turret configuration & common die clearances to minimize setup to support small lot production and smooth, level material flow.
- Responsible for resolving all turret press and laser-related quality problems through the implementation of robust root cause corrective actions.
- Introduce methods to reduce inspection time (weekly templates).
- Review existing programs to identify wasted machine motions and resolve them accordingly.
Qualifications
- These positions require the use of ProEngineer and AutoCAD design software, as well as NCell software for programming the laser and AP100, AMNest, and Dr. Abe software for piece part programming and nesting on the turret presses.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining a structured TPM procedure for turrets and lasers.
- Prefer an Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or 3-5 years of experience programming Amada turret presses and/or industrial lasers.
- Must have experience using nesting software to support a Lean manufacturing / One-piece flow environment.
- Must have experience creating standard turret configurations.
