Hourly Pay Range:

$48.93 - $75.84 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

A Brief Overview:

5 South Psychiatry is a 21-bed unit that caters to adults 18 and over with acute psychiatric disorders. We provide medication management, group and milieu therapy. The clinical team consists of staff nurse, mental health counselors, psychiatrists, APN's, social workers, occupational therapists, and psychiatrists.

As the Manager of Patient Care you will assume a pivotal role in the coordination and management of patient care services within the hospital. You will lead a dedicated team of nursing and support staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and the efficient operation of patient care units. This position requires strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and satisfaction.

What you will do:

  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to nursing staff, ensuring adherence to established clinical protocols, safety standards, and quality of care. Monitor patient care activities to maintain quality and safety.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. Coordinate staff schedules, assignments, and performance evaluations. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure the delivery of compassionate, patient-centered care. Address patient and family concerns and inquiries promptly and professionally. Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement care plans.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, audits, and compliance efforts. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Efficiently manage unit resources, including staffing, supplies, and equipment. Assist in budget planning and control expenses within the unit.
  • Facilitate ongoing education and training for nursing staff to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge. Keep abreast of the latest developments in healthcare.
  • Oversee accurate and complete documentation of patient assessments, care plans, and interventions in electronic health records.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures. Maintain a safe and sanitary patient care environment.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including physicians, case managers, and ancillary services, to coordinate patient care and optimize the patient experience.

What you will need:

  • Bachelors Degree Nursing Required
  • Masters Degree Nursing Preferred
  • Masters Degree Health Administration Preferred
  • 5+ Years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Illinois. Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification Required
