Job Overview:
Performs advanced radiographic procedures within the scope defined by Regulatory and Departmental Standards. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.

Required:
- General Radiology experience
- NJ State Licensure
- ARRT
- BLS

Essential Functions:
- Addresses patient and medical staff concerns.
- Adjusts technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined, while minimizing radiation.
- Assists in the movement of patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and radiographic tables.
- Assists in the orientation of department and hospital personnel, as appropriate.
- Assists physician with special procedures such as vascular, neurological, digital, utilizing specialized equipment.
- Assists physicians in the administration of contrast materials required for procedures.
- Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
- Checks requisition for physician notations and/or special instructions.
- Completes all paperwork and computer entries as required.
- Complies with all regulatory and accrediting standards.
- Confirms patient identification by verbal confirmation, I. D. band, etc.
- Consults with supervision, radiologist and/or other physician regarding examinations as necessary.
- Demonstrates complete working knowledge of all radiographic equipment within the department.
- Demonstrates correct and adequate positioning skills.
- Describes nature and time requirements of requested examinations to patient, at an age appropriate level.
- Develops/processes exposed film and reloads cassettes with unexposed film, returns cassettes to proper locations.
- Identifies problems and communicates to immediate supervisor/charge staff; offers solutions as appropriate.
- Instructs radiology students according to clinical and didactic requirements.
- Participates in the teaching/preparation of patients/families, as appropriate and according to age-specific guidelines.
- Performs Maxifile/FIS functions as appropriate, including procedure completion and charge capture.
- Performs all routine radiographic procedures and views according to department procedure manual.
- Performs and/or assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
- Performs surgical and portable examinations as assigned.
- Performs visual checks on equipment and reports findings to appropriate personnel.
- Positions patient to obtain desired views; applies immobilization devices as required.
- Prepares and maintains room and assures emergency supplies are intact.
- Provides patient with gowning instructions.
- Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self according to prescribed safety standards.
- Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code procedures.
- Reviews exposed radiographs for proper positioning, technique, and identification.
