Position Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of continuous and batch production facilities at the Fayetteville site. A chemical operator should be fully (and demonstrably) confident of their technical and personal abilities and should be able to use their abilities to positively affect the personnel and plant around them on a daily basis.
Job Responsibilities
Safety
- Ensures that Hexion Safety Manual practices are followed during regular operations, unit maintenance and operational outages.
- Participates in safety audits, training, inspections, incident investigations and PSM/PHA activities.
- Ensures excellent housekeeping is maintained at all times - both personally and as aunit team.
Environmental Compliance
- Demonstrates a working knowledge the site air permit, water permit and discharge permit.
- Maintain unit operations within permit guidelines.
- Knowledge of hazardous and nonhazardous wastes generation and the proper disposal.
Quality
- Demonstrates analytical insight and knowledge of testing equipment and equipment utilized in the process area.
- Participates in the investigation of quality incidents and takes action to prevent recurrence.
- Ensures product is manufactured in spec. and shipped to meet customer requirements.
Production
- Produce finished product at a level to meet requirements of both external and internal customers by following SOP's.
- Effectively troubleshoot and solve operational and quality issues.
- Perform real time data entry using SAP, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc as needed to perform job duties.
- Sample finished product, test and analyze results against specs.
- Load finished product onto tank trucks following SOP's.
- Perform minor unit maintenance under qualified supervision.
- Maintain equipment, clean and replace strainer bags as needed.
- Unload raw materials (bulk and liquid) and stage in production areas using forklift, yard tractor or rail car mover.
Regulatory
- Understand and follow DOT, OSHA, EPA and other regulations.
Leadership
- Works well with others; promotes attitude of continuous improvement.
- Independently completes day-to-day tasks with minimal supervision and to complete other special assignments, with an appropriate level of supervisory involvement Practices Hexion Core Values in daily activities and adheres to all Company polices and procedures.
- Assists Shift Leaders to direct shift activities of operating personnel, contractors, etc. during routine and abnormal operations if required.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed to maintain business coverage.
Other
- Complete other tasks as assigned by leadership.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports through the Shift Lead to the Production Superintendent.

- Post Secondary Education/ Vocational Preferred
- Must be able to analyze and interpret data, come to sound conclusion and make recommendations.
- Physical: Walking, driving, standing, lifting 55 pounds repeatedly, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing. Ability to enter confined spaces and wear a respirator.
- Aptitudes: Must possess the ability to understand the meaning of words and their ideas, as well as instructions and their underlying principles. Perform some arithmetic operations, possess eye-hand motor coordination and be able to operator a forklift.
- Temperament: Must have the ability to accept responsibility, perform duties under stress, adapt to situations requiring preciseness and adapt to changing duties and responsibilities. Must be able to adapt to situations involving the interpretation of feelings, ideas, or facts; be able to influence people in the opinions, attitudes or judgments; and be able to generalize, evaluate, make decisions and perform repetitive work.
