Job Family Radiological Protection Discipline Health Physics Career Level P1 Salary Range $51,800 - $72,500 Note for Salary This is the range within which SRNS expects the majority of qualified candidates would enter this role if offered. Actual offers may be more or less than the amounts shown depending on candidate's qualifications, experience, internal equity, and other factors. Job Family Description Radiological Protection personnel ensure safety by monitoring, evaluating, and controlling radiation hazards in various environments. They use specialized equipment to detect and measure radiation levels, implement safety protocols to minimize exposure risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, they may provide training to personnel on radiation safety procedures and contribute to emergency response plans related to radiological incidents. Discipline Description Health Physics personnel provide technical guidance on complex radiological protection issues having project, site-wide, or DOE complex-wide implications. They integrate emerging technologies, processes, and regulatory requirements into radiological programmatic areas. They serve as the radiological technical authority responsible for developing the radiological technical basis for facilities and projects, developing the technical basis for instrumentation and dosimetry programs while ensuing regulatory compliance. In health physics roles, individuals focus on the application of physics principles and radiation safety practices to protect human health and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation. Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include: Perform the installation, inspection, calibration, maintenance and repair of complex equipment, which employ pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, chemical, optical, electronic or electrical principles of operation. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in relevant field We'd Also Like to See BS in Health Physics or engineering discipline. Technical work experience in radiological controls/health physics. Career Band Professional Career Band Description * Roles in this band apply the knowledge in area of expertise to analyze information; design and develop new approaches, methodologies and processes; and, provide professional advice and guidance to others in accordance with professional quality standards Career Level Description Entry level, performing routine tasks with either close supervision or under clearly defined procedures. Security Clearance Information SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
