About This Role

Join our team at the Division of Facilities as a Plumber, where you'll play a vital role in planning, installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems across campus. This position requires a skilled, journey-level plumber with strong project planning capabilities, attention to quality, and the ability to work in varied environments.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Plan and schedule from start to completion any assigned projects by using journey level knowledge of plumbing techniques to install, remove, replace, or repair all utility lines above or below grade.



  • Install, maintain, and repair water, steam, and condensate systems above and below ground.



  • Remodel restrooms and repair plumbing fixtures such as valves, pumps, urinals, faucets, and fountains.



  • Work in a variety of environments, including confined spaces and extreme temperatures, following all safety protocols.



  • Operate state vehicles to transport tools and materials; maintain hand and power tools.



  • Support general facilities work and emergency repairs as needed.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires two years of relevant experience. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by a hiring manager. This position is covered by the KSU Local 6400 agreement.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Prefer high school graduate or equivalent with vocational training in the plumbing trade.
  • Thirty months of experience in plumbing work.
  • Ability to work from sketches, blueprints, and specifications, and read and understand specific instructions in English.


Other Requirements:



  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Become a certified Class I Asbestos Worker during the probationary period and maintain it.
  • Cross connection control and backflow prevention certification required during the initial probationary period.
