PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This position will be responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. They will select merchandise for order, place orders, and stay involved in inventory distribution. This role will evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers. In addition, they will support the plant and maintenance functions and must coordinate necessary resources to meet desired outcomes. They will effectively communicate with all levels of the organization internally, as well as customers and suppliers. This position supports the business by ensuring quality maintenance and repair materials, packaging, and direct materials arrive in the right quantities, and at the right time. They will also focus on continuous improvement in buying, spare parts, the Storeroom, and other parts of the plant. In addition, this role will oversee the Storeroom. Reports to: Plant Controller

Span of Control: 2 Hourly Direct Reports


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Livethe Safety stand; adhere to the safety responsibilities.

2. Cost Management



  • Work with the Maintenance Leader and Maintenance department to develop and maintain appropriate inventory levels of spare parts to meet production plan.
  • Utilize best sourcing practices to reduce cycle time, maximize customer service, and minimize sourcing costs.
  • Develop, track, and report cost improvements, cost avoidance actions, and cost increases.


3. Purchasing



  • Maintain MRO inventory through SAP 6.0.
  • Manage overall invoice payment process to suppliers and GRNI.
  • Promptly clear all GRNIs, kickouts, and late order lead times.
  • Utilize the procurement card for non-coded or one-time items and reconcile expenses outside the Spend Connect Guided Buy.
  • Manage all vendor and supplier relationships; ensure services are provided, agreed upon terms are met; maintain timely lead times and quality is delivered.
  • Create all requisitions and purchase orders and manage inventory levels in accordance with OC Sourcing Standards and SOX controls.
  • Insure compliance with national accounts purchasing agreements.
  • Maintain local vendor contracts in compliance with OC Sourcing Standards.
  • Ensures no production stock outs; communicates risk and action plans as needed.
  • Continuously improves sourcing processes by leveraging best practices and eliminating waste.


4. Storeroom



  • Manage storeroom personnel.
  • Oversee physical cycle counts and enter into system.
  • Monitor production schedules and resource requirements to maintain operations.
  • Lead critical spares assessment review; familiarity with SMOI and spot tool.
  • Assist storeroom personnel in reconciling invoice discrepancies.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field required.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:



  • Experience using SAP 6.0, Supplier Portals (Coupa), and MRP.
  • Sourcing/purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with payment terms and contract negotiations.
  • Forklift operation.
